Yes, I know but I think my argument is pretty good....

First off Blake, I am glad you are going to the practice. You have certainly earned it with all that hard work and studying. I am sure you will have some good insight.

In short on the Option. First off as always look at Navy. Secondly, look at how Wofford was able to compete with a well coached Spurrier team. The option is being used for teams at a lower level and bigger teams with minimal talent use it to successfully compete with major programs. In my mind, if it works with a team with minimal talent it would be dominating with a program with good talent. Just my opinion which I think is logical.

In terms of Spence, he needs to do what he did the first year in terms of running. Far more misdirection plays. I like our chances with Spiller or Davis going one on one with a DB.

Time to talk opening day. In my opinion the first 3 offensive drives will set the tone for the rest of the season. The Tigers should line up in a running formation, FSU will no doubt have the box stacked. Play action pass to Ford for a big one. Mickey Andrews is far from stupid, he will assume it is a fluke that cannot be done consistently and Harper must read the Defense and do it again. At this point FSU will have no choice but to back off and cover the Pass and we will run the ball over them handily. Very crucial, Harper must not change the formation or just drop back to pass. The defense would simply drop back into pass coverage, it must be play action and in a running formation.

Believe me, this will set the tone, other teams will be sure that if Harper can do that on a Mickey Andrew's FSU Defense that he can do it to anyone (save Va Tech, speed).

Most fans believe you set up the pass with the run. I believe you set up the run with the pass. Especially in our situation. Big pass plays back the Defense off the line, but unless its in the 4th quarter they can be bad. If its not a TD you will likely be in the red zone. Passing is far more difficult there. A good offense is built on rythme and consistency. Long passes will do neither. Of course points are important. But it is also important to keep your defense off the field as much as possible. Long passes won't do that for you either. Our passes need to be for 10 yards or better this year.
