Spurrier is known for this kinda stuff. Bowden may as well shut his mouth while he's still a little bit behind.. It's gonna make him look a lot better when he's really far behind. USC football hires Beamer’s son as assistant!!!

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is turning to a familiar name in college football to fill the Gamecocks’ defensive staff opening.

Spurrier has hired Mississippi State assistant Shane Beamer, son of longtime Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer, to coach outside linebackers and assist with the special teams, sources close to Shane Beamer and the Mississippi State program told The State on Tuesday.

An official announcement could come soon. USC has called a 2 p.m. news conference for Wednesday.

Beamer replaces Dave Wommack, who left in January when his contract was not renewed.
