Barnes Says He & Garcia Close To Big Day
Richland Northeast WR Mark Barnes (6-3 195) said Thursday night he is closing in on his commitment day, and he said his announcement likely will be coordinated with one by QB Stephen Garcia (6-3 218) of Tampa.
"We're pretty much thinking the same thing," Barnes said. "And that would be South Carolina."
Barnes said if his team loses Friday night and fails to make the playoffs, he'll be ready to make the commitment within a few days. If his team wins and makes the playoffs, then the announcement would be delayed by a week or two.
Stephen Garcia: Garcia is a ranked a 4 star, 3rd best duel threat QB in the nation, and 49th best player overall in the nation according to Rivals.com. Garcia's major offers besides Carolina are from Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma, Boston College, Louisville, NC. State, and Ole Miss
Mark Barnes: Barnes is ranked a 4 star, 4th best athlete (WR/Saftey) in the nation, and 46th best player overall in the nation according to Rivals.com. Barnes' major offers are from Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Clemson, Louisville, and Virginia Tech.
Man, this is shaping up to be the best class Carolina has ever had!!!!! Looks like we're making up for the big Gray de-commitment.. lol. Gary Gray isn't even the best player on his high school team, Mark Barnes is!! I've seen both play in person, along with Brian Maddox when RNE played TL Hannah. We'll see in the next few years who got the best out of Richland North East.. Steve Spurrier or fat ass Weiss.. I got my money on Spurrier, or if I were betting Weiss, I got my doughnuts on Spurrier.. LOL.
Looks like the Gamecocks are starting to steal the big recruits from the big boys.. Like the Southern Cals, Notre Dames, Auburns, Floridas, LSUs, FSUs, Tennessees, ect... And man, I gotta tell you, it feels good!!
