Quarterback Development

I think what Vance may be referring to is the fact that a college quarterback guru like Spurrier hasn't landed 4 and 5 star quarterbacks like some thought would happen at SC. I know that Garcia was, but I think he is the exception? There have been recievers breaking records, but it has been one guy every year and that guy was the only reciever the qbs were confident in. SC had some real trouble at that position after Blake Mitchell (I don't think he was too bad). Remember the Iowa game? Clemson pickfest of 08? Now, with that being said, 2010 was a good year for Garcia, though he was inconsistent at the end of the season. Nobody will deny...well I won't, that quarterback is a strength at Carolina right now. Hell, the only weakness I see on Carolina is their special teams and maybe pass defense. I still say team cohesion (which has been in articles all over the last day or so) has been a problem too. Carolina has a lot to prove in that department.

I like the quarterback cam idea. I don't think it is some type of radical training method to make the quarterbacks have an edge on the competition, but more of a training tool to maybe let the guys see some of their mistakes. Chad Morris is committed to improvement at that position. I think that is huge for Clemson. Vance, I saw some of those throws too that were a little behind the reciever on the slant routes. Hopefully fall practice will get Boyd/Stoudt up to speed. Two feet is all it takes for a catch to make a huge gain or for a reciever to get busted up over the middle having to slow down for a throw slightly behind him. Saw a lot of that with this team under Kyle Parker. (On a side note, I wonder what kind of improvements Parker could've made with the new coaching. Not sad he's gone, but we can't deny he had some talent.)

Guys, in my opinion, if Clemson can keep their defense at a level near last year they will have a legitimate shot at the Atlantic. We all know the offenses have been putrid in the ACC and the team that learns to score consistently will go far in this league. Hope and sunshine from me at this point. No way am I going to go into the season depressed. I will save that for the end of November if things go to shit. I remember going to the kitchen last year during the Clem/SCar game last game in the second quarter. I knew they weren't going to win as soon as they gave up double digit points. I probably said it 100 times while I was under the influence about how last year's team was the first since I have been following Clemson that didn't have a scoring threat. In all of the previous seasons there was always a chance for someone to step up with a big score. I think that feeling may come back this year. We will have to wait until the Auburn game, but I have a positive feeling about playmakers.
