So really...

I am talking about about talent evaluation and you are pulling up an article of how Caldwell is handling players that he did not recruit and using it as evidence. Certainly he had to come in and due to a shitty OL he had to start crosstraining, filling weak positions, because we were coming off a very bad season. So yep, that's exactly what he was doing, trying to fix a crappy OL.

In the more recent article he says he likes OL to train at 2 positions and mentions the backup center. Remember, each position on the line is one on each side except? That's right the center position, it's smart for example to have a LT train as RT also. Because your backup RT could very well be your 3rd best tackle and be expected to come on either side. Hence getting the best 5 on the field. Twice as many opportunities for tackles and guards than a backup center. I would say its very important for the 3rd string center to find another position because they are not likely to see the field. You will usually see 3 center, starter and 2 backups. A tackle and guard for example does indeed learn two positions, LT/RT and a guard learns RG/LG. It's ok when you see a backup center going to guard for example, but when you see them going to a tackle position you better start getting worried.
