Moving people around...

On the offensive line is a strong indicator you are having trouble. It is a hard position to be good at and each position on the line is hard to learn. Someone will not easily transition from a guard to tackle position. The biggest challenge for a coach in college football is how little time you get to spend with players. They don't have time to waste cross training and it would absolutely be a waste of time if you have each position covered first and foremost by evaluations when recruiting. Caldwell for example is not a magician, we are just starting to see guys he did long term evals on playing. Each year the line is improving, the best money is to get the right guy at the right position and have him become a master at that position through repetition. Anything else is just covering for a bad situation.

Any time you compare yourself to what Bama does its not going to end well. One of Bama's tackles is a 5 star player. It's absolutely possible they have a great OL at a position and then have a better one come in. They are moving people around based on the shear number of talent they have coming in, not due to weaknesses. Saban will run a guy off that is not performing and grab another one that is better. They are the exact opposite of everything I have talked about. I will say that it has been very well documented that Saban does not even want to fast these high speed hurry up offenses. The true reason is that it counters many of the things they do there. The injury thing he is saying has been disproven.
