Blake’s SEC coaches on the hottest seats to coaches sitting cool as the other side of the pillow.

Ever sit back and wonder which coaches in your favorite football conference have the most legitimate shot at catching the boot before season end? I know fans of schools like Kentucky and Ole Miss do. Here’s my bet on the SEC coaches with the hottest and coolest seats.

Rich Brooks, Kentucky: Yes Kentucky has a football team… and their fans want them to win. If any football coach is going to do well at Kentucky it won’t be with Rich Brooks as the head coach.

Ed Orgeron, Ole Miss: Someone please tell me what Mississippi has done since Eli Manning left besides take hiney whippings? You’re right, nothing. Ed better hope these top 20 signing classes he’s been getting aren’t overrated, because if they are he may be watching someone else coaching them.

Sylvester Croom, Mississippi State: Croom, Croom, Croom… man what can I say? I like the guy, and wish he would do well. As a Carolina fan, I realize my wishes don’t always come true. I truly think that the only reason he still has his job is because of his big win over Florida in the 2004 season. Only beating teams like Murray St, Tulane, and Ole Miss in 2005 isn’t going to cut it bud.

Houston Nutt, Arkansas: Arky is expected to do well this year, and that makes Mr. Nutt’s seat even hotter. The man is sweating, and he damn well should be with a fan base like Arky’s and how great they think their team is this year. I say they give him two more years to see what he can do with Mitch Mustain as a sophomore. If Nutt doesn’t live up to Mr. Mustain’s hype he may be running from a Razorback mob!

Bobby Johnson, Vanderbilt: Vandy is a somewhat up and coming program… well kinda. The loss of Jay Cutler is going to hurt Bobby bad. Big surprise, huh? Wait a minute though, didn’t Vandy have a losing season in Jay’s senior season leading the Commodores? Yea, they did. On the other hand, they beat a lowly Tennessee, but when you’re Vandy and you beat your arch rival in Tenn. (lowly or not) it means a lot. Johnson has a little breathing room after that win.

Phillip Fulmer, Tennessee: That’s right, I said Phil fat ass Fulmer. Phil in a sense is Tennessee, but his seat is getting warmer by the minute and it’s making all 450 lbs. of him very uncomfortable. I could go on all day about this subject with this coach, but in a nutshell the Vol nation loves him but the arrogant Tenn. Fans aren’t going to put up with another season like last years (see Vandy above).

Urban Meyer, Florida: Urban is a mystery to all of us. Can he make his unique spread offense work in the SEC? Are the Florida fans going to give him ample time to do so? I say HELL NO. The Florida fans are thinking “o.k. if this BS you brought from Utah is going to work you better make it snappy!” Will Urban be a Florida myth or legend? The Florida fans have seen a legend as a head coach in Steve Spurrier, and they want another one… NOW! Enough Zooking around... LMAO!

Mike Shula, Alabama: The seats start to get much cooler now. The Crimson Tide had a great year last year. 10-2 is a great year I would say, but they had a couple of troublesome years before that. As serious as Bama football is, they don’t want to see the Red & White go back in that direction. I think Shula will have a lot of screwing up to do to before having to worry about finding another job.

Les Miles, LSU: Les surprised me at how well he did after having to replace Nick Saban. Lets see if he can keep it up. The only thing he really has to worry about that may piss the fans off is not playing the players they want him to, because they are all good players. I see the Bayou Bengals in a BCS bowl this year.

Mark Richt, Georgia: Richt, as much as I dislike him really has nothing to worry about. He has won the SEC championship twice in the past 5 years at UGA, his Bulldog fans think he’s a God sent down from puppy land, and he’s a great recruiter. Look to see the young Mark Richt coaching the Bulldogs for many years to come.

Tommy Tuberville, Auburn: Tuberville couldn’t be sitting any sweeter right now. He’s got an awesome team, great fan support, and had a undefeated 2004 team that should have played for the National Championship. He and his fans are still very pissed about that, and they want revenge on the BCS. The Auburn fans want no other coach to dish out that revenge than Tommy Tuberville.

Steve Spurrier, South Carolina: Guess who? That’s right the Old Ball Coach. This man has absolutely the most secure job in the SEC. I as a Gamecock fan sit and think sometimes about him being the coach at South Carolina and it is still hard to believe. Spurrier could have 5 strait losing seasons, including losses to in-state rival Clemson, and still have the majority of the Gamecock faithful cheering him on. To bad for his opponents, including Clemson… that isn’t going to happen! GO GAMECOCKS!
